The University of Mostar has been developed into a highly organized, integrated and functional higher education institution included in the European Higher Education Area and the European Research Area, which provides quality and effective education based on learning outcomes and the concept of lifelong learning. Scientific research work is based on scientific excellence defined by international indicators and stronger integration with the educational process at all levels, especially at the level of postgraduate studies. The Faculty of Sciences and Education is one of the faculties of the University of Mostar. It came from the Faculty of Pedagogy in the academic year 2005/2006. Since the academic year, 2005/2006, the Faculty has been operating according to the Bologna Process program (3 + 2 + 3). The undergraduate study lasts three years, and upon its completion the title of bachelor (baccalaureus / baccalaurea) is acquired. The graduate study lasts two years. Upon its completion, the title of master / master of profession is acquired. After that, a doctoral study can be enrolled for another three years. Analyzing the needs for different educational profiles as well as the interest of students, the Faculty of Sciences and Education wants to meet these needs and interests, so a flexible organizational approach to future students offers multiple combinations of studies. At the Faculty of Sciences and Education, University of Mostar, knowledge of university studies in a wider range of different fields is acquired. Almost the entire education of staff for preschool, primary and secondary education is in the activity of the Faculty of Sciences and Education. 250 teachers and associates participate in this teaching process. The professional staff that participates in the work of the faculty, apart from our University, also comes from the Universities of Zagreb, Zadar, Split, Osijek, Opatija, Rijeka, Sarajevo and Tuzla.

The Faculty of Civil Engineering is a part of the University of Mostar whose primary activity is the education and training of civil engineers, architecture and geodesy. The Faculty has its organizational units aimed at enhancing the system and harmonizing the activities of the Faculty, as well as addressing the issues of common interest for implementation of the scientific, teaching and higher-education work. The organizational units of the Faculty are departments, laboratories, administration and institutes. Departments and laboratories are the Faculty’s organizational units involved in the realization of university study programs and perform scientific, teaching and highly qualified work. The Faculty has participated in a lot of international projects so far. Also, it has developed strong cooperation with local industrial partners through student practical work and relation of projects.

Antea Čilić is an Assistant Professor in Faculty of Science and Education, University of
Mostar. She was born in 1986 in Čapljina. She graduated on the Faculty of Sciences and
Education, University of Mostar in 2011 and obtained a master’s degree in pedagogy. She was the winner of the Award of the Federal Ministry of Education and Science for the best
students. In the academic year 2012/2013 she enrolled in the Postgraduate Study of
Educational Sciences-Pedagogy at the Faculty of Sciences and Education, University of
Mostar. In 2017, she defended her doctoral thesis under the mentorship of prof. dr. sc. Branko Rafajac. She is engaged in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level in the study of Pedagogy, Preschool Education, Primary Education, Educational Rehabilitation, Mathematics and Informatics, and Kinesiology. She teaches the following courses: Fundamentals of Pedagogical Methodology, Pedagogical Methodology, Research Instruments and Evaluation, Quantitative and Qualitative Research, Action Research, New Media in Education, General Pedagogy. She actively participates in international scientific and professional conferences in the country and abroad. She has published several professional and scientific papers. She is engaged as a member in several projects (SEECEL, Teacher, TABLA, InAMath) She is reviewer of several scientific papers in scientific journals, book and exercise book. She is engaged in teaching within the program of Pedagogical and Psychological Education of Teachers. She is engaged in teaching at the international level, at the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, University of Montenegro. She is a mentor for several final and graduate theses. She is the coordinator for the CEEPUS network in front of FPMOZ. She is the Assistant Dean for Students and Student Issues. She actively speaks English. She is married and the mother of four children.

Tomislav Volarić was born on October 16, 1985 in Ljubljana. After finishing primary school, he attended the general gymnasium “Fr. Slavko Barbarić” in Čitluk, where he was released from high school as an excellent student. In 2007 he became a computer engineer (univ. Bacc. Ing. Comp.) And in 2010 he became a master computer engineer (mag. Ing. Comp.). During his studies he had a scholarship from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Croatia as a top student. He received his master’s degree with excellent results from his mentor prof.dr.sc. Vlatko Lipovac. From 2008 to 2009 he worked in the company Libertina in Dubrovnik as an IT specialist in the maintenance of information systems, performing support duties for computer hardware and web programming. In 2008, he completed a Cisco course (CCNA). After graduating, in October 2010 he joined Faculty  Science and Education, University of Mostar as an external associate and at the same time became a professor of informatics at the high school of Fr. Slavko Barbarić in Čitluk until October 2012. In 2010 he enrolled in the postgraduate doctoral study of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, University of Split, where he received his PhD in April 2017 on the topic “Model of design and delivery of knowledge in intelligent learning management system” under the mentorship of prof.dr.sc. Slavomir Stankov. Part of the research on the dissertation was conducted in Finland.

In July 2017, he was elected assistant professor at the Faculty of Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering in the field of technical science, scientific field of computer science, branch of artificial intelligence. He is involved in teaching at the Faculty of Sciences and Education, is an external associate of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering, University of Mostar and an external associate of the University of Sarajevo.

– Since 2014, he has been performing the function of expert advisor and mentor in Hercegbosna County for the subject Technical Culture.


Tomislav Volarić is also engaged in the international project Adaptive Courseware based on Natural Language Processing (AC & NL Tutor), funded by the US Navy (Office of Naval Research) from July 1, 2015 to July 1, 2019. Since 2012, a member is an association of ACM and IEEE.

He is the author of more than 20 research and scientific papers published and cited at several scientific conferences and journals (according to the Google Scholar report).
He is the author of the textbook in informatics for the first, second and third grade of high school in Croatia “Think IT 1, THINK IT 2 and THNIK IT 3”.

He is married and the father of three children. He actively speaks and writes English.

Hrvoje Ljubić wa born on January 3, 1995 in Mostar, where he graduated from the Ruđer Bošković High School of Electrical Engineering. After graduating from high school in 2013, he enrolled in the study of mathematics and informatics at the Faculty of Sciences and Education at the University of Mostar. He is the winner of the Rector’s Award for the best student scientific work in the academic year 2016/2017. years. He is also the winner of the first CodeChallenge programming competition at the University of Mostar. From the third to the fifth year of study, he works as a demonstrator in the courses Programming 2 and Mobile Application Programming, and was the leader of several workshops at the Spark School Association. In the academic year 2017/2018 defends his master’s thesis on “Predicting learning outcomes using neural networks in the environment of concept maps” led by doc. dr. sc. Tomislav Volarić. After defending his master’s thesis, he was employed at his faculty as part of the IT center of the University of Mostar. In May 2019, he became the head of the development of the Information System of the University of Mostar, and in September of the same year he acquired the title of assistant.

Mila Zovko was born on June 13, 1989, in Čapljina. She graduated from the General Gymnasium Ljubuški in 2008. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in the study of mathematics and informatics at the Faculty of Sciences and Education at the University of Mostar. During her master’s studies, she already worked as a demonstrator at the Faculty of Sciences and Education at the University of Mostar. After completing her master’s degree in 2013, she acquired the title of assistant, and enrolled in Postgraduate Doctoral Study in Mathematics at the University of Zagreb.

Anton Vrdoljak is assistant for Academic Affairs and Senior Assistant at the Faculty of
Civil Engineering, University of Mostar. Responsibilities include:

· Academic Affairs.

As a proactive researcher with an interest in math, algorithms and applications, Anton does research in Algorithms, Applied Mathematics, Educational Technology and Engineering.
