On October 10th, 2023, we held three workshops (Mathematical tricks with cards, Mathematical puzzles, Mathematics in other words) for 75 4th-grade students of Vidikovac elementary school from Pula who visited our Faculty as part of a trip to Rijeka (field teaching).
Faculty of Mathematics, University of Rijeka participated in manifestation Noć istraživača – Rijeka (Researcher’s Night Rijeka) with around 2000 visitors and presented our educational [ai] explore games and the algorithm used to create the exhibits that are part of the exhibition [ai] explore.
Our math games participated in Rikon! https://www.rikonrijeka.com/
The SciMaG project started on September 1, 2023, and we started the warm-up for the project activities by designing a game that explains the algorithm used to create the exhibits that are part of the exhibition [ai] explore.
Exhibition [ai] explore, and the related game are presented in Cres, Croatia (10-11 September 2023.) for the general public and high school students.
The analysis of the research results carried out in the InAMath project was published in a scientific article published in a renowned journal SAGE Open.

Conference paper and conference presentation “Development of computational thinking through interdisciplinary activities in mathematics education” by Bojan Crnković, Vedrana Mikulić Crnković and Ivona Traunkar were presented on 9th International Scientific Colloquium Mathematics and Children, Osijek, Croatia (May 19th – May 20th, 2023).
International Day of Mathematics (IDM) is celebrated around the world every year on March 14th. March 14th was chosen as the date for IDM because it was already celebrated in many countries as Π day. The International Day of Mathematics project was initiated by the International mathematical union with support from numerous international and regional organizations from all over the world. 14.3. was declared the International Day of Mathematics at the 40th UNESCO general session on November 26, 2019, and was first celebrated on March 14th, 2020.
All countries are invited to participate in activities for students and the general public in schools, through activities in museums, libraries, etc. Each year a theme is determined (which has nothing to do with the number Π) and promotional materials are designed, as well as ideas for activities. “Mathematics for everyone” is a topic for the year 2023.
In addition to the common topic, all participants are invited to participate in one challenge, which changes from year to year. All information and materials are available on the website https://www.idm314.org/.
Through the website, institutions have the option to register their own activities and thus appear on the map of all institutions that joined the International Day of Mathematics.
We suggest some of the activities that can be held in classrooms in the article “Međunarodni dan matematiku u Pi ritmu”, published in the journal MIŠ: Matematika i Škola.
We are happy to announce our final official InAMath TPM meeting which will be held in Rijeka, Croatia from February 13th until February 15th, 2023!
