26.6.2024. in front of the Dječja kuća Rijeka, another festival Tobogan was held! The Faculty of Mathematics, University of Rijeka participated with SciMaG games Prepare and play Sudoku and Pi treasure hunt.

A manifestation on the occasion of the International Day of Light – Ode to Light was held in the Astronomical Centre Rijeka from the 16th until the 18th of May, 2024. As a part of this manifestation, we held a workshop Mathematical games and puzzles.

Bojan Crnković and Vedrana Mikulić Crnković had a presentation entitled “The Exhibition, Games and Virtual reality – Technologies in Math Education” on 2nd International Conference on Digital Transformation in Education and Artificial Intelligence Applications, MoStart, 24-26 April 2024, Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Within the SciMaG project, the current activity is the research of threshold concepts in STEM fields. Partner universities conducted research on the project with the support of partner schools. The first part of the research in Serbia was jointly organized by team members of the University of Novi Sad and Jovan Jovanović Zmaj Gymnasium, on April 18, 2024. This phase included teachers from primary and secondary schools in Novi Sad and its surroundings. The research was carried out in the school premises, in the form of workshops in STEM areas, gathering over 40 teachers who gave their professional input and, through discussion, enabled important conclusions and recommendations for the further course of the research and the project itself. In the following period, other steps in the research will follow!

On April 23rd, 2024 in Rijeka, Croatia, we conducted activities Prepare and play sudoku for small ones and the big ones. Also, we are very happy that we designed an activity in which students learn to program in Scratch with the help of the [ai] explore game, and we conducted this activity with 5th-grade students!

On Thursday, 18.4.2024. we visited Elementary school Čavle, Croatia and conducted three newly developed SciMaG games: Treasure Hunt in the Pi rythm, and Prepare and play Sudoku for 5th and 7th graders.

On Saturday, 13.4.2024. the manifestation Stem picnic was held in Rijeka, Croatia. We participated in the event with several SciMaG activities: Sudoku for the big ones, Sudoku for the little ones, Mathematical games and puzzles, Math escape, and Make your own Echer tile!

We celebrated International Day of Mathematics and Pi Day in the Elementary School Sv. Matej Viškovo with 11 activities and more than 400 students!

At the mathematics workshops at UP PEF, we celebrated the International Day of Mathematics and the Number Pi.
The children got to know the number Pi with the help of music pipes, while moving, building towers, playing a board game, … we ended the meeting with the realization that the number Pi is almost magical and we had the pleasure of getting to know it and playing with it.
